God's Personal Struggle

Have you ever considered that God Himself has a constant personal struggle? It could even be called an enigma on the horns of a dilemma. Martin Luther, the proponent of " Justification by Faith " was once challenged as to the true basis of Christianity, faith or righteousness. He responded " Righteousness " - our faith simply appropriates the redemptive work of Jesus in dying on the cross in our stead to satisfy God's basic righteousness - " The wages of sin is death ". Here then is God's dilemma in being both perfectly righteous and holy, and also infinitely gracious and lovingly forgiving. This is why prayer can be effective, why it is possible to ask God to turn away his righteous anger in favour of His grace. When I pray - "Yours is the Kingdom, the Power, The Glory, Eternally. Amen."

So the circle turns. You are the alpha and the omega, the beginning and the end. I approached you as my Heavenly Father, Holy King; I close, reaffirming your Kingship, your omnipotence, your eternal "I Am". Lord, you have heard my petitions, you know my needs, and again you remind me that it is "Your Will" be done, that it is Your Name and Person who alone is worthy to receive Glory. Open My Eyes, Illumine Me

But what if you don't have physical sight? Certainly spiritual insight is more important, but physical sight is still our primary means of receiving God's word through reading. Whilst Australia's sight impaired have access to talking books, guide dogs, Braille literature etc. suffers are mainly the aging. But in a country like India with one tenth of the world's population, it has one third of the world's blind. Though if measured by Australia's definition of technical blindness (10% or less of normal vision), the numbers in India would double to about 20 million. Sadly, most could be prevented or even cured - causes being measles, smallpox, eye infections, and malnutrition (vitamin A deficiency). 50 million of the world's children currently suffer from trachoma, leading to blindness, for the want of tube of ointment.
